On October 26, the 2024 Dasha River Rowing Invitational was held. Ten international high-level rowing teams from nine countries including Australia, the Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland, Denmark, France, Germany, New Zealand and Italy, as well as nine elite teams from Shenzhen, Hong Kong and Macau, China, launched a wonderful rowing competition on the Dasha River.
The holding of this event is not only a grand event of sports competition, but also an important platform for Nanshan District to show its international influence to the world and deepen international exchanges and cooperation, demonstrating the breadth and depth of its “international circle of friends”.
Before the official opening of the event, the participating teams also visited the Nantou Ancient City and the DJI exhibition hall to fully appreciate the historical charm and technological innovation of Nanshan.
After fierce competition, the Amsterdam Student Rowing Association of the Netherlands, the Rowing Club of the Paris Higher Business School of France, and the University of Macau Rowing Team won the women’s single sculls championship, runner-up and third place respectively. The champion, runner-up and third place of women’s double sculls were won by the Amsterdam Student Rowing Association, the Danish Student Rowing Club and the University of Kassel, Germany. The Danish Student Rowing Club and the Amsterdam Student Rowing Association won the men’s single sculls championship and the men’s double sculls championship respectively. The Amsterdam Student Rowing Association won the championship of the mixed four-person sculls event of this invitational tournament.
The French contestant said happily: “This competition is very fierce, and the contestants from various countries are very excellent. We really enjoyed the process of this competition and learned a lot. I hope that there will be more opportunities to come to China to participate in the competition in the future and feel the enthusiasm and vitality here again.” The contestant from Germany said with emotion: “This competition made us feel the rapid development of China’s rowing sports and let us know more about China. We are very grateful for this opportunity and look forward to more international competitions being held in China in the future, so that more friends from the world can understand and love China.”
