On October 31, the Guangzhou Municipal Transportation Department released the 9th issue of the Guangzhou Transportation Monthly Report [2024]. It mentioned that in September 2024, Guangzhou’s transportation system operated well as a whole. The total social passenger volume was about 26.95 million, and the total social freight volume was about 76.9 million tons. The average daily passenger volume of public transportation in the city was 12.45 million. The average working day speed of urban roads in the central urban area was 32.88 kilometers per hour, and the traffic congestion index was 5.05, which was at the “mild congestion” level. A total of 17.12 million vehicles passed through the entrances and exits of 9 key toll stations.
In terms of public transportation, the city’s public transportation passenger volume in September was 373 million, with an average daily passenger volume of 12.45 million. Among them, the average daily passenger volume of urban rail transit was 8.79 million, the average daily passenger volume of conventional buses was 2.9 million, the average daily passenger volume of cruising taxis was 730,000, and the average daily passenger volume of water buses was 20,000. In terms of the proportion of public transport passenger transport, this month urban rail transit passenger volume accounted for 70.66%, conventional buses accounted for 23.32%, cruising taxis accounted for 5.83%, and water buses accounted for 0.18%.
