On the afternoon of October 24, a 123-meter-long and nearly 3-meter-high Rubik’s Cube wall, located on the southeast side of Shantou Haiming Park, was carefully spliced with 109,000 three-order Rubik’s Cubes. Under the certification of the Guinness World Records official certification officer, it successfully won the Guinness World Record title of “the largest Rubik’s Cube pattern”.
In the Rubik’s Cube painting of more than 100 meters, landmark attractions such as the Tropic of Cancer landmark tower, Nan’ao Lighthouse, and Chenghai Guanshan Academy are vividly displayed on the wall; classic Chaoshan elements such as red-headed boats, Yingge dance, and centipede dance are vividly displayed, and popular IP characters such as “Super Wings” and “Pleasant Goat” are interspersed among them, vividly showing many famous tourist attractions, historical buildings and special customs in Shantou. This “Chaoshan Cultural Characteristic Wall” with a length of 123 meters and a height of 3 meters, which is made of more than 100,000 Rubik’s Cubes made in Chenghai, has applied for a new world record to the Guinness World Records official.
After measurement by a professional third-party measurement company, the final effective area exceeded the current record and successfully refreshed a Guinness World Record title. Hou Ying, the certification officer of Guinness World Records, announced on the spot: “On behalf of Guinness World Records, I announce the Guinness World Record title of ‘the largest pattern composed of Rubik’s cubes’ challenged by the Shantou Chenghai Toy Association. After measurement by a third-party company, the final effective area was 337.97 square meters, successfully refreshing a Guinness World Record title.” At the same time, Hou Ying presented the “Largest Pattern Composed of Rubik’s Cubes” Guinness World Record plaque to the successful challenge project.
The Rubik’s Cube Wall that successfully refreshed the Guinness World Record this time is not only a display of the manufacturing capacity and innovation strength of Shantou’s toy creative industry, but also helps to enhance the popularity and influence of Chenghai’s toy brand and promote the further development of the toy industry. At the same time, it promotes the deep integration and innovative development of the toy industry and the cultural tourism industry, so that more people can understand Chenghai toys and polish the industry business card of “China’s Toy Gift Capital”.
Chen Liang, executive vice president of Chenghai Toy Association, said that the Rubik’s Cube Wall vividly presents the local scenery and culture of Shantou, and also helps to promote Shantou’s cultural and tourism resources and attract more tourists to visit and travel. “We hope that through this event, we can further promote the integrated development of the toy industry with cultural tourism, education, and events, and inject new vitality and impetus into Shantou’s economic and social development.”
